The Carpentry Apprenticeship program prepares students for advancement as a residential or commercial carpenter.

Apprentices are employed full-time (PAID w/raises). Classes are FREE and on-the-job training is completed during the workday.

Graduates of the program earn state and national credentials, and are able to sit for the Florida State Licensing exam, positioning them well for a strong career in a growing job market.

Job Outlook:

The median annual wage for Carpenters was $56,350 in 2023. Employment of Carpenters is projected to grow four percent from 2023 to 2033, faster than the average for all occupations.

 

Training & Coursework:

• Form building
• Rough framing
• Door and window setting
• Application of trimming fixtures
• Roof coverage
• Construction and setting cases, closets and stair work
• Application of hardware and fittings to exterior and interior of buildings, doors and windows
• Care and use of tools and
• Safety procedures
• Care and safe use of tools and woodworking machinery

Apprentices are required to work a total of 8,004 hours On-the-Job Training (OJT) and attend 576 supplemental classroom instructional hours.  Upon successful completion of the program, the apprentice will receive a four-level certification by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and will be issued a nationally recognized Completion of Apprenticeship certificate by the State of Florida.
